Thanks for stopping by to see our new look!
It's been several months since I've done the blog thing and it's good to be "home".
A little back story:
About 10 years ago, I was one of those moms jumping into the very infantile world of "mommy blogging".
I had two boys, ages 3 and 7, and was a full-time "stay-at-home" mom by choice. I was a working mom, just not in the way we like to define "working moms". Stay-at-home moms work. Hard. And not all of them are helicopter moms, FYI. Best job I've ever had. If you know, you know.
During that time I wanted to start exploring my writing voice. My brother suggested I start this new thing called a "blog" (short for "web log"...bet you youngins' didn't know that), and he told me about a site called Blogger.com where you could create one for FREE.
That night I went home and started "A Mom's Life". And the rest, as they say is a long, wonderful, hard working, history. I've had about three different versions of my blog over the years, 4 different names... who remembers Hoo-dee-Hoo!?. And several platforms including a short stint on Tumblr.
Live and Learn.
But alas, here I am, 10 years later back where it all began. On Blogger.com.
I love full-circle moments, don't you?
I'm now a regular TV contributor (check out the "on TV" tab!), sharing playful living tips and ideas, and I have my first book "Well Played", coming out June 2016 for Harper Collins. It's been an amazing ride thus far, and I can't wait to see what's around the next bend.
Over the last couple of years I have been having discussions with many of the folks I grew up with here in the blogosphere, about whether or not the art of blogging is dead.
We've gone back and forth about whether the blog's time had come and gone and if we needed to just move on.
Our collective conclusion seems to be that blogging has simply changed shape. Not unlike many of us over the last decade. And so I'm changing shape along with it.
This past summer, with the help of my creative and talented and just plain fun, web designer, Alaina Buzas we've created a place that feels like the next right shape.
Meredithplays.com is a place where you'll find easy and fun ideas for adding more playfulness to your filled-to-the-brim, 21st century, wonderful, stressful, joyus, big-goaled, life.
I firmly believe that play and playfulness is a vital, yep VITAL ingredient in a happy, present, joy-filled and content life. It's biologically built into our very fabric and without it we wither.
And withering is just not cute, and no fun at all.
So, without further adieu, I introduce to you my new place here on the inter webs.
Every week you'll find playfully curated posts, inspiring videos, products I love without the "push", cause I don't roll like that, and a place to share how adding more playfulness to your own life is making it better for everyone involved.
