Last week I hopped the train down to the Walgreens on State St. in Chicago to have a chat with Dr. Travis Stork who was visiting as part of his work with Crest and their Crest Pro Health line in honor of Women’s Health Month.
You may know Travis Stork as one of the hosts of the TV Show “The Doctors”, or from his season looking for love on the show “The Bachelor”. He’s one smart, and not-too-bad-looking M.D.. He could not have been more relatable and down to earth, and he had some great ideas for how we can all take better care of our oral health…and why that’s so darn important. As mentioned in the video interview, I always schedule my kids’ dental appointments before mine and I’m continually reminding them to “BRUSH LONGER!”, and more completely. But I’m often in too much of a hurry to do the same myself.
In my chat with Dr. Stork I was honestly shocked to learn that 1 in 2 adults suffer from gingivitis. HALF of all adults, people! (my math skills were impressive, don’t ya think?) And most of us don’t even now it. Unfortunately, gum disease is now being linked to everything from heart disease to dementia. Serious stuff. Dr. Stork explained that simply using a line like Crest Pro Health can greatly reduce our risk of gingivitis and other complications from poor oral health.
We all walked away with samples of the Crest Pro Health line, including Crest Pro Health Clinical Rinse…which my son Maxwell quickly stole when I got home, because he said it would give him awesome breath. I think it has something to do with a girl in English class.
I hid the “Invigorating Clean Multi-Protection Rinse”, and the gum protecting toothpaste for myself. Maybe I’ll share with my man.
All in all it was a fun morning of interviewing a hot doctor and actually learning about the link between good oral health and good overall health. Did I look too giddy trying not to be distracted by his perfect teeth and charming smile?? I love my husband, but dang…he’s adorable. And SMART.
If you want to give the Crest Pro Health line a go for yourself, Walgreens is running 2 Crest Pro-Health specials to coincide with Women’s Health Month:
