Meet the Pacific Rim Park Team

James Hubbell Founder, Ilan-Lael Foundation & Pacific Rim Park James Hubbell is one of the founding members and principal creative director behind the Pacific Rim Park project.  He is an artist, architectural designer, a poet, jeweler, sculptor and designer in metal, wood, stained glass, and tile. He is also a teacher to students of architecture and design throughout the world.

Kyle Bergman   Architect & Film Festival Director Architect Kyle Bergman  has been involved from the beginning of the the Pacific Rim Park project and is currently co -chair of PRP.  He has been involved with design/build education since 1994 when he created and moderated an architectural lecture series about the design/build process for the Smithsonian Institute. Architect Kyle Bergman  has been involved from the beginning of the the Pacific Rim Park project and is currently co -chair of PRP.  He has been involved with design/build education since 1994 when he created and moderated an architectural lecture series about the design/build process for the Smithsonian Institute. Marianne Gerdes                                              Executive Director, Ilan-Lael Foundation Marianne has been working with James Hubbell and the Ilan-Lael Foundation for ten years to expand its impact and aid in the transition of the iconic Ilan-Lael property from private home to public resource.  Marianne has chaired a $1.2 million dollar fundraising effort to construct the Foundation’s headquarters and program space at Ilan-Lael.  She developed influential programs for the Ilan-Lael Foundation like Conversations on Beauty, the Triton Art Recovery & Repurpose Auction, and the Pacific Mosaic Youth Art Project.

Chuck Lang Owner, Lang Contracting, Inc. Chuck Lang has been an instrumental part of the Pacific Rim Park Project since the Pearl of the Pacific was built in San Diego, CA, in 1998. Chuck brings his passion for architecture and his ability to tackle the most challenging design elements to every project. Whether laying a solid foundation or installing the most delicate of artistic embellishments he is a master at his craft. Chuck put his BA in Spanish Literature to good use when he teamed up with Pacific Rim Park founder, James Hubbell, to work on Colegio La Esperanza, a school in Tijuana, Mexico. As the owner of a Lang Contracting, Chuck has been overseeing the construction of new custom homes and remodels since 1976.

Chuck Lang has been an instrumental part of the Pacific Rim Park Project since the Pearl of the Pacific was built in San Diego, CA, in 1998. Chuck brings his passion for architecture and his ability to tackle the most challenging design elements to every project. Richard Earnest COO Airstream Innovations & Former Mayor of Del Mar Mr. Earnest’s business career includes leading public and private companies involved in computer software as President and CEO. He has served as a city council member and Mayor of Del Mar, and continues his public involvement through San Diego’s Chairman’s Roundtable by mentoring new entrepreneurs.  Recently, he joined Airstream Innovations as its Chief Operating Officer, with a mission to feed people and grow organic crops. He is a decorated jet fighter pilot, flying over 300 combat missions.  He earned his degree in Engineering at the United States Naval Academy and his Masters in Management while still on active duty.

Mr. Earnest’s business career includes leading public and private companies involved in computer software as President and CEO. He has served as a city council member and Mayor of Del Mar, and continues his public involvement through San Diego’s Chairman’s Roundtable by mentoring new entrepreneurs.  Recently, he joined Airstream Innovations as its Chief Operating Officer, with a mission to feed people and grow organic crops.
